After years of claiming to be black, Rachel Dolezal has finally, publicly acknowledged that she was indeed, born “to white parents”. It’s been a long, tumultuous journey, getting to this point, but Dolezal has finally (and somewhat reluctantly) acknowledged her Caucasian heritage.
During an interview with The Real, the former NAACP Spokane Chapter leader told co-hosts of the show ( Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Jeannie Mai, Loni Love and Tamera Mowry-Housley), “I acknowledge that I was biologically born white to white parents, but I identify as black.”
Dolezal, who is expecting her first child, then received cheers and a standing ovation from audience member’s, although, she did not seem too comfortable with her new found acceptance and did not take too kindly to Loni Love‘s playful jibe about the race of her unborn child (seen in the clip below.)
Despite her admission, it still doesn’t appear that Rachel Dolezal has actually accepted that she is not a black woman or grasped the concept of white privilege. She goes on to tell the ladies that the police identify her as black when they’re giving her parking tickets… (Yes. She went there!).
She’s come a long way, but evidently, Rachel Dolezal has a heck of a way to go before she truly gets it. She’s still rocking that deep tan and racially ambiguous weave. Rome wasn’t built in a day. A little progress is better than none, I guess…
