The F. Gary Gray-directed N.W.A biopic, starring Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and more, that stole the hearts of Hip-Hop fans worldwide, has officially crossed the $200 million mark, making it the highest-grossing film ever by a Black director. Straight Outta Compton is also Gary Gray’s first ever film to cross the $200 million threshold, with his 2003 thriller, Italian Job, falling just short at roughly $177 million.

As Billboard points out, there are still two huge international markets who have yet to show the movie in theaters–Russia (Nov. 12), Spain (Nov. 13)–meaning that number will likely grow significantly by year’s end. Also, it’s worth noting the Compton director isn’t done putting up big numbers on the board. He’s directing the 8th Fast & Furious movie, which hits theaters in 2017.
