When Pusha T signed with Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. Music label in 2010, and trotted out to perform with Kanye at the MTV VMAs, social media was ablaze with messages like, “Is that the guy from The Clipse?”
No one’s asking that question anymore. Since then, Pusha has released several critically-acclaimed projects, including his debut solo album, My Name Is My Name, The Source‘s 2014 Album of the Year. He’s run through countless features, and continued to make heads spin much like he did on the three albums he made wit his brother, Malice, the other half of The Clipse. Now, he’s reached yet another new height.
Billboard announced exclusively this morning that the Virginia native, born Terrence Thornton, has been announced as the new President of G.O.O.D. Music, and though there isn’t news as to whether or not he will work alongside, or replace previous president Che Pope, he’s already begun to think about what his agenda will be.
I just look at capitalizing on everything that I feel like G.O.O.D. Music brings to the music industry, our following, and the culture. First of all, we have incredible artists. It’s definitely about getting those albums out in a very manicured fashion. We have great artistic talent that sort of walk the lines of bringing that excitement back in regards to just the art that goes along with it like DONDA, the merch and things like that.
He would go on to say a follow up to G.O.O.D. Music’s 2012 compilation album, Cruel Summer, is “on my mood board,” and speak briefly about helping to develop younger artists like Kacy Hill, G.O.O.D.’s newest signee. She recently appeared on Travi$ Scott‘s debut album, Rodeo, singing on “90210.”
