The former Pro-Bowl wide receiver will have season-ending surgery on his calf muscle, which he injured in training camp. Cruz announced the surgery in a video clip, admitting that it was tough to hear the news. “This hurts because I worked so hard to come back from the patella tendon surgery.”

Cruz hasn’t played at all this season due to the calf injury, and he missed the last 10 games of last season with a knee injury.

Cruz and fellow star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have only played a combined 6 quarters of football together due to the various injuries they have both suffered.

The 29-year-old receiver has 3 years left on his current contract with the New York Giants, but would likely have to take a pay cut in order to remain with the team in once it expires.
