Her new album, 25, was released on Friday, November 20, and it was already expected to do some pretty big numbers, like go double-platinum in its first week on sale. What some people didn’t anticipate, is that it would sell more first-week copies than any album ever.

That’s right, according to Billboard, Adele’s 3rd opus is on pace to sell 2.9 million copies, which would best NSYNC‘s No Strings Attached by roughly 500,000 copies. Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and company’s 2000 album would sell just over 2.4 million copies in its first-week, setting a Billboard record that has stood for 15 years.
