Back in 2012 Tyrann Mathieu was considered a Heisman candidate and a potential 1st-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, but his addiction to marijuana eventually caught up with him.

Mathieu had reportedly failed approximately 10 drug tests during his time in college, and was eventually kicked off the team for it. He was later arrested along with 3 other LSU players for possession of marijuana, scaring off potential NFL suitors.

The Arizona Cardinals took a chance on Mathieu in the third round of said draft because of his relationship with former teammate Patrick Peterson.

So far, as an NFL athlete, it appears Mathieu has put his troubles behind him, and is proving that he belongs in the league. He has had zero issues off-the-field while helping the Cardinals become serious contenders in the NFC.

Prior to their win over the San Francisco 49ers, Fox Sports ran an interview Mathieu did with Jay Glazer about overcoming his addiction to weed, and he reveals that it had been an issue for him since he was 12 years old. Watch it in full above.
