Aaron Rodgers is more than State Farm’s infamous “Discount Double-Check” front-man.

The past few weeks however, he hasn’t played like it. Prior to last night’s game, the Packers were in the midst of a horrific skid that could single-handedly keep them out of the playoffs next month despite their 6-0 start.

The Lions on the other hand, were playing like one of the best teams in the conference. After consecutive victories against the Packers, Raiders and Cowboys, Detroit would surely be a tough match-up for the division rival Packers, even though there’s only a mathematical chance they contend for post-season contention at this stage of the season.

For much of the game, that sentiment proved accurate. The Packers didn’t score in the first half, and down by 17 heading into the second half, folks were already asking: what went wrong with this team? Aaron Rodgers quickly erased those doubts, helping to score two touchdowns in under two minutes, and with his team down 3 on the game’s final play, Rodgers…Rodgered.

Yup. Narrowly escaped a sack, re-approached the line of scrimmage, cocked it back, and torpedo’d a bomb 65-yards through the air. At the pass’s summit, the Packers had won the game.  Unbelievable. Calvin Johnson’s reaction says it all.
