One thing’s for sure. The Weeknd isn’t shying away from the Michael Jackson comparisons.
For much of his career, outside of his much talked about “Dirty Diana” cover, which appeared on his Echoes of Silence mixtape, there was no mention of The Weeknd joining the long line of Michael Jackson heir apparents that have risen to prominence in the last few years. However, after his MJ-esque “Can’t Feel My Face” dominated the charts this year, and “In The Night,” which sounds even more like a record Jackson would’ve released, became one of the most popular non-singles on Beauty Behind the Madness, those whispers turned into full-blown conversations.
Above is the video for “In The Night,” which The Weeknd hopes, according to his recent interview with Rolling Stone, to be “huge.” It features his girlfriend, model Bella Hadid, and the theatrics that we’ve come to associate with 2015 Abel music videos.
