With the current climate of distrust between the citizens of the urban community of Chicago and the Chicago PD, protestors took to the streets of the Windy City yesterday to express their need for change of police conduct and procedure in their respective neighborhoods. The citizens have called for the resignation of Mayor Rahm Emanuel after the mayor gave a heartfelt apology for the manner in which the mayor said “I’m sorry” and promised a

“total and complete reform of the system.”

The mayor received applause from the City Council he was addressing, however, the protestors, who were mostly young, Black males, chanting “No more killer cops!” and “Rahm must go!” His speech comes just two weeks after the release of the 2014 video of the shooting death of Laquan McDonald by Officer Jason Van Dyke, who is now facing first degree murder charges for the death of McDonald.
