Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Nike Basketball
The star studded Nike basketball lineup of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Lebron James have received new holiday themed releases. Nike has unveiled its upcoming Christmas Collection for 2015 featuring the Kobe X, KD8, Kyrie 2 and Lebron 13. Taking inspiration from the opposite powers of fire and ice, the themed kicks grouping represents cold temperatures as well as heated competition.
Recently revealed, the yet to be released Nike Kyrie 2 is seen dressed in primarily blue and white upper. Channeling through its design the character of the abominable snowman, the zig-zag pattern present on its strap is representative of the beast’s jagged teeth. The Nike Kobe X Elite pays homage to one of the games most historically triumphant athletes and his five championships. Displaying five golden rings on the heel, the Nike Kobe X Elite is a love letter to the soon to be retired basketball idol. A Flyknit upper is used with a blending of red and green covering most of the shoes toe box. The KD 8 of the pack consists of a stark white on one side of the sneaker contrasted by a mixed red and black colored graphic design. This two toned upper sits atop a cracked midsole pattern that evokes the holiday convention of gifted coal. Lastly, the Lebron 13 takes inspiration from frigid winter weather in the Midwest prominently displaying the icons number on the heel in a frozen font. The kicks are covered in a mostly white coloring with a few different shades of icy light blue present on the laces, Hyperposite section, sole, sockliner and on the detailing throughout. A speckled baby blue pattern is used on the midsole, tounge and contrasting sections of the high top kicks upper.
The Nike Basketball Christmas Collection will undoubtedly debut on the feet of the four signature athletes Christmas day when the Cavaliers, Lakers and Thunder take to the court. The sneakers will see a widespread release December 26 at select Nike retailers and on Nike’s website.
