New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has always been a stickler for his players not being involved with media in any capacity that can spark controversy. This would explain why Patriots players have been mum on certain socio-cultural topics that grip the nation. As far as star quarterback Tom Brady, the furthest he goes with his non-football related items is his very PG-13 Facebook page, where he shares old photos, memes and such.
Donald Trump was recently in Massachusetts and told the Washington Post that much of his popularity in the state is based on his friendship with the region’s biggest star, Tom Brady.
In Massachusetts, I’m at 48 percent. You know why? Tom Brady said Trump’s the greatest,” Trump said. “He says it to anyone who asks him. You know, it’s hard for a guy like him to say that. When you’re a football player, you don’t want to be taking sides in campaigns and having the Hillary [Clinton] people now say you’re not as good as Bart Starr. You understand. So Tom Brady is great.
While a guest on WEEI radio Tuesday (December 15), Brady was asked whether or not he would be supporting Trump in the 2016 Presidential election. Always one to tow the company line and remain neutral on touchy topics, Brady didn’t directly commit to voting for Donald Trump but expressed his support.
Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That is what I have to say. He’s a good friend of mine. He’s always been so supportive of me—for the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl. He’s always invited me to play golf. I’ve always enjoyed his company.
