LeBron James, even in an arena full of people that can’t stand the sight of him, is a nice guy.

Last night, when the Cavs visited the rival Celtics–it’s worth noting this is the first season since LeBron’s first stint in Cleveland that this matchup features two probable playoff teams–sitting front row at the game was the MVP of a local Special Olympics event, whose story was broadcast on the arena’s JumboTron. After seeing the story, which involved the young man being told by a doctor he may never walk again, LeBron, who told ESPN after the game it immediately became “so much more than basketball,” greeted the young man at his seat, and would later gift him his game-worn “Opening Night” LeBron 13’s, obviously making for one overjoyed Special Olympics MVP.

LeBron added, “When I saw his story, it was just like, I don’t know, I felt like I was a part of him. Just showing my respect, gave him my shoes. It was well received by him. It was not for you guys or the fans. It was for him.”
