Prior to the making of Bush, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell had crafted records that will certainly live forever. The Charlie Wilson-assisted “Beautiful,” or Snoop’s #1 hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot”—take your pick. Certified classics. Needless to say, the excitement surrounding this release was warranted, and the potent duo delivered on it. Bush is a clear departure from their previous catalog, opting instead for Pharrell’s bubbly pop influences, with trust in how seamless the OG Snoop would sound on some of his laid back, funky numbers. With guests ranging from Gwen Stefani to Kendrick Lamar to Stevie Wonder, it’s clear that though these two have put together stone-cold rap hits in the past, Bush was to be a reflection of their individual musical passions. They executed it perfectly.
