To celebrate the holidays and help families in need, TDE held its second annual Holiday Concert and Toy Giveaway Tuesday December 22nd at the Nickerson Gardens Projects in Watts, L.A.
Kendrick, who’s ending 2015 on a stellar note, performed “Alright,” and the members of TDE came out to perform “Vice City” off Jay Rock’s latest album 90059. Although the concert was lit with the members of the TDE camp blazing the stage, the biggest moments came in the way of surprise guests, as Big Sean performed “Blessings” and Ty Dolla $ign performed his smash anthem “Blase”.
While “Alright” has been nominated for a Song of the Year Grammy, the song has become a cultural lightning rod for Kendrick and has proven to have a lasting impression as the protest anthem of the year, capturing the frustrations and perseverance of the communities who mourned in 2015.
