Recently, President Obama made a guest appearance on the survivalist show Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Comedian and actor David Spade was taken by this experience, so much so that he felt the need to speak out about his opinion of the show.

On a clip from TMX, Spade is shown responding to questions asked about a tweet from Dec. 14th in regards to Obama’s television appearance. In his opinion, he

“thought a president should have a little more dignity”

and that the reality show appearance was “just weird to [him]” and was “just too much”. David Spade, who’s last film was Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, also took this opportunity to speak out against the First Lady’s numerous talk show appearances saying that “[he thinks] Michelle Obama is on Ellen more than [he is].” He continues his conversation with TMZ saying that to him, the residential family is “a bit thirsty”.

Spade also disrespectfully commented on President Obama’s GQ Magazine cover saying “Leave that to Bradley Cooper.” When the blasphemy was finally about to come to end, Spade squeezed out one more comment saying that he believes this is the beginning of a post-White House strategy to remain relevant in the media by the Obamas.

Whether these remarks against the POTUS were earnest or out of thirst for spotlight(possibly due to the fact that his last movie was straight-to-stream bomb) is hard to tell. What is a fact however is that President Obama is far from the first president to grace the screen. Presidents Clinton, Carter, Ford, and Nixon have all played roles on popular televisions shows or in movies either during or after their service to our country and let’s not forget that President Ronald Reagan was a career actor before he was sworn in as president. Spade’s comments on this event come across as another groundless attempt to defame our president and call his ethics into question. Its President Obama’s last year in office and after the past seven and a half years of his service, he deserves a break from the scrutiny of those who do not and will not ever understand the pressure of his job. Besides, its not like he made a guest appearance on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
