3. Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao Finally Square Off
A fight nearly 7 years in the making, many boxing fans assumed that a super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would never happen. Especially considering that Pacquaio had a controversial loss to Timothy Bradley and suffered a devastating knockout at the hands of rival of Juan Manuel Marquez. As 2015 got underway, it was clear that the fight was eminent, and Pacquaio’s losses did nothing to quell the excitement.
Leading up to their May 2nd bout in Las Vegas, the entire world was utterly consumed with the fight, as even fringe sports fans, letting alone boxing fans were discussing the bout. Without a doubt the most hyped and covered fight in the boxing history, viewers were left with much to be desired as the actual fight failed to live up to the massive hype, as Floyd cruised to any easy victory. Through it all, the fight between the two stars generated a record setting $600 Million in revenue, by far the biggest in boxing’s illustrious history. The electricity surrounding this mega-fight is something the sports world may not see again for decades.
