The New York Knicks have been one of the most improved franchises in the NBA and their future looks brighter than ever thanks to their first round draft pick Kristaps Porzingis. The 7 footer has been having a stellar rookie season and is making a strong case for Rookie Of The Year. Though he plays in the most populous city in America, chock full of glitzy nightlife, Porzingis is not much of a party animal.
In a recent revelation, the 20-year-old center still lives at home with his mom and dad in White Plains, NY, roughly 40 mins north of NYC. Both of his parents immigrated to the US with him once drafted and it has helped the youngster, who doesn’t drink either, in more ways than one.
It’s always good to have support around, as young as I am and New York with a lot of attention. My family’s around to make sure I’m doing the right thing and staying out of trouble and focused on basketball. For me, it’s great to have family around.
This news comes just days after his teammate Cleanthony Early was shot and robbed outside a Queens strip club prior to the new year. Not to mention another Knicks teammate Derrick Williams was robbed of reportedly 750K worth of jewelry by two female house guests after a night of partying. Safe to say that some chaperoning is doing him well.
