Gucci Mane, regarded as the godfather of Atlanta, is getting out of prison in March. At least, if you ask the folks at his label, 1017 Records, via their Instagram account.

The rapper, who is currently serving time for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, has served several prison stints over the last 16 years, but it hasn’t stopped him from being one of the most consistent artists in the game. He often drops mixtapes and free albums from behind bars, and in 2009, his The State vs Radric Davis album achieved considerable commercial success, giving Gucci a viable lane in both the underground and the mainstream. He’s also been instrumental in getting the careers of some of Atlanta’s biggest artists off the ground, including Young Thug, The Migos, PeeWee Longway, ILoveMakonnen, and producers like Mike Will Made It, Sonny Digital and Metro Boomin.

Needless to say, if the self-proclaimed trap god is getting out of prison in 2 months time, it’ll be cause for much celebration, especially down South.
