On the topic of immigration, Joy Behar joked about many fleeing the country in the event that candidate Donald Trump wins the presidential race. Not finding the joke to be so funny, Goldberg quickly responded.

“You know what uh uh! This is my country. My mother, my grandmother, my great grand folks, we busted ass to be here. I’m sorry. I’m an American. I’m not an African American, I’m not a chick American. I’m an American!”

It’s not surprise that Raven-Symoné, who has been making headlines for renouncing her own blackness, chimed in with similar sentiments.

“I’m an American,” the former child star reiterated. “I’ve been here too long to not just hold American.”

Probably feeling herself a bit too much in the sea of applause, the Goldberg awkwardly added, “Since the 1700s my people have been here. So, I’m an American alongside the Native Americans. That’s the bottom line.”

It was the silence that followed that led into a commercial break.
