Conceptual collaboration entity Concepts has devised with Nike a striking and vibrant new running shoe. The product drop is set to mark 20 years of the Cambridge Massachusetts based brand Concepts and its consistent offering up of marvelously crazy product ideas.

The excessively thin and light Nike Free Trainer 1.0 silhouette is the canvas Concepts ultimately chose to work with. Nike impressively touts the fact that the sneaker’s Free sole is one of the thinnest in their catalog. Athletes would be smart to gravitate towards this performance enhancing footwear option, as it allows them traction and easier speed, while representing a moment in the timeline of the revered Concepts brand.

With a rainbow imitating color way, the kick’s intriguing hue comes from sports science technology with an upper inspired by heat maps and heat-reactive tongues that charmingly change color when exposed to warmth.  Sneaker heads often speak of “heat” in reference to footwear, yet the latest Concepts shoes actually emulate and represent an increase in temperature.

The collaboratively designed and thematically enhanced Nike Freetrainer 1.0 is set to release January 16 at Concept’s locations in store and online.
