The South Central, Los Angeles native, who skyrocketed to stardom after her series opening ballad, “What Is Love” on FOX’s Empire last year, stole our hearts in this updated version of the soulful track, adding touches of jazz along with her robust vocals.

In anticipation for the release of her first album, Music Is My Boyfriend under Timbaland‘s Mosley Music, the 27-year-old beauty keeps fans in awe with tracks showcasing her undeniable talent, including her infectious collabo with her hit-making mentor on “Smile,” and Empire hit, “Hourglass.”

The actress, who rocks a fierce buzz cut, is also working with Timbaland for a duet project, Opera Noire, according to Essence.
