Compton rapper AD first caught a major buzz with the 2015 street anthem “The Juice,” when Real 92.3 FM caught on to the single and put it in heavy rotation. Since then the rapper dropped a freestyle on The Pharmacy radio show with Dr. Dre, appeared on The Game‘s Documentary 2.5 and was recently co-signed in an interview with Kendrick Lamar. Now he’s ready turn his buzz “Way Up,” on that momentum with a release Tuesday [January 12, 2016] featuring Iamsu! and rapper-producer Sorry Jay Nari.

The video to the song is under production right now, according to AD’s manager Adrian Swish (who is on Kid Ink’s management team). The track is a single off his upcoming collaboration project By The Way with Nari, the League of Starz producer who also works with Tyga, Problem, Ray J and Eric Bellinger.

AD, who grew up a Compton Crip, was recently brought out on stage by YG (a Blood) during his sold out show at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. This continues a trend of California rappers who’ve been trying to ease gang tension with their music.
