Can a purse be more valuable than gold? Well after a 35-year study, the company Baghunter found that Hermès Birkin handbags “Birkin Bags” have increased in value year after year. The handbag has offered an average annual value increase of 14.2 percent. The handbag’s peak surge value occurred in 2001 when it increased in value by 25%, and the lowest increase was 2.1% in 1986.
Baghunter suggests that the data of three investment options can be used as an indicator of future market fluctuations. The S&P 500 and gold are subjected to normal increases and decreases, while the value of Birkin handbags has never decreased and has consistently increased since hitting the market.
