The 36-year-old South Central native will begin his journey to make it back to the NBA by signing with the D-League. According to his agent, Davis is expected to make his debut on the court January 20. The two-time NBA All-Star hasn’t touched the hardwood floor since tearing a knee ligament in 2012 while suiting up for the New York Knicks. In his 13 year career, the former UCLA Bruin great averaged roughly 16.1 points and 7.2 assists a night during his playing stints for the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

When asked “why now at age 36?”, Davis felt that the “timing is right and he is more confident with his body than ever before.” After recently having his second child with wife Isabella, he believes he’s ready for a return into the NBA. Once Davis sign with the D-League, his name will be entered into the league’s player pool. He would then be selected based on the waiver preference order.

Experts and scouts will be looking to see if Davis can bring back his old school flashy, entertaining play that helped him become a household name during the summer time at the legendary Drew League in his hometown of LA.
