In 2002, 2004 and 2007 respectively, Matt Damon starred in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, three thrilling action films loosely based on author Robert Ludlum‘s Bourne novel trilogy. Together, the film trilogy grossed just short of $1 billion at box offices worldwide, and it made Matt Damon one of the most prolific and recognizable faces in Hollywood. Though Damon didn’t sign on for the fourth Bourne film, the series continued with The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jason Renner and performed well at the box office, grossing over $270 million worldwide. In the meantime, Damon diversified his portfolio with roles in Invictus, The Green Zone, Contagion and most recently, The Martian, for which Damon has racked up several Academy Awards nominations.

Still, since 2007’s cliffhanging Bourne Ultimatum film, which ends with Damon’s character faking his own death to evade authorities, fans have been clamoring for Matt Damon’s return, and the continuation of the Jason Bourne story, which has been on pause since the release of Ultimatum in 2007 (Renner played a Bourne associate in Legacy). They got their wish yesterday, when the new trailer for Jason Bourne, which drops on July 29, was revealed during Super Bowl 50. Watch it above, and you should probably catch up on the first three Bourne movies if you haven’t done so already.
