In another episode of #BlackGirlMagic, Michelle Obama hosted an event at the White House on Monday [February 8, 2016] where 51 young, Black female dancers came to take part in an African Master class.

Taught by the amazing Debbie Allen, the event was historic in the fact there had never been such an event hosted at the White House before.

Aside from African dance, celebrity choreographer Fatima Robinson taught a Hip Hop course, an Alvin Ailey dance instructor taught a class, and ballet was also offered.

Michelle Obama gave a speech to the dancers, telling to keeping aspiring to reach their goals and perfect their craft.

“Looking out at these beautiful, talented young women, I know that we have the power to keep reaching higher and defying the odds, and achieving those firsts, and seconds, and thirds, and hundreds, and thousands until a Black principal dancer is no longer a cause for headlines. And our children are limited only by the size of their dreams and their willingness to work for them.”
