Things are heating up for Jason Derulo. The Florida-born R&B crooner is making sure the ladies and fellas have some eye-candy, just in time for Valentine’s Day. “Naked,” his latest visual release, is nothing short of steamy. The singer is in a D’Angelo “How Does It Feel” type setting, showing off the work he’s been putting in at the gym. Not to leave the men out, K. Michelle stars alongside Derulo, donning nothing but lingerie.
Derulo, who had a public split from ex Jordin Sparks last year, is showing he’s embracing life as a single man. “Naked” has lyrics that allude to the singer and his life in the fast lane, with no regrets from past relationships or inhibitions about future flings. The singer even throws a slight jab at his ex by proclaiming, “the only time I needs a spark is when I light up my spliff.” Even though both have clearly moved on, the past is seeming to add more steam to the singer’s future in R&B.
Like the title, Jason Derulo is naked 95 percent of the time in his new visuals. Not to be outdone, K. Michelle puts her mic aside to show off her curves. For the past two years, Derulo has released a number of chart topping singles (including “Wiggle” and “Talk Dirty”) which are very successful upbeat pop singles, however he’s stepping back into the R&B realm with “Naked.”
There aren’t a lot of artists who can successfully maneuver between genres, but Derulo’s proving he can. The singer released his album Everything Is 4 in June. “Naked” is the fifth single to be released from the album. So far Everything Is 4 has sold 32,000 copies and has peaked on the Billboard 200 at number 4.
