As the NBA’s trade deadline came to a close last Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded center Anderson Varejao to the Portland Trailblazers after he spent nearly 12 seasons with the franchise. The 33-year-old was later waived by Portland, making him eligible to sign with any team except the Cavaliers. Late Sunday night, Reuters reported that Varejao has signed on with the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors recently waived Jason Thompson in order to clear a roster spot and the addition of Varejao adds needed depth for the team at the center position considering that Andrew Bogut has been battling a sore achilles, and his backup, Festus Ezeli underwent knee surgery earlier this month.
