Barack Obama Biopic, ‘Barry,’ Focusing on 1980’s NYC Obama, Beings Shooting in April

Barack Obama‘s tenure as President of the United States is slowly coming to an end, but his legacy will live on forever–a foregone conclusion since the day he was was sworn in on a cold morning in January of 2009.

Part of that legacy will continue to live through film, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, a biopic about the 1980’s Barack Obama, who was based in New York City at the time. Devon Terrell, pictured above, has been casted as the young Barack Obama in the film, and Anya Taylor-Joy, best known for her role in The Witch, will portray one of Obama’s college peers, with which the young Obama has a “fateful encounter.”

The film was written by Adam Mansbach, directed by Vikram Gandhi, and will track POTUS through his travels in 1981 in New York City.
