Kanye West could be giving Babcock a run for their money in the near future. West has already proved to the world what he can do with clothing, now he may be adding furniture to his design portfolio. The rapper was seen at the IKEA headquarters today [March 8] in Almhult, Sweden. West was all smiles in denim as he did a casual walk through of the company. With multiple admirable brand contracts under his belt, we would not be surprised if West has landed another with the popular furniture brand.
Kanye told the world back in 2013 that he wanted to be more than just a rapper in his famous Beats1 radio interview with Zane Lowe. Three short years later and there is a slight possibility that people will be able to get their hands on Yeezy inspired shoe-racks. IKEA has not officially confirmed the collaboration but a rep has issued a statement to the NYDailyNews.com. “To have these connections and inspiring meetings is an important way for us to find new ways to create a better everyday life for the many people.” When addressing the Swedish press IKEA stated “Only time will tell.”
With no concrete confirmation one can only hope that Yeezy inspired furniture will be a thing of the future. If the collaboration does go through West could get tips from his sister in law Kourtney Kardashian. The famous ‘K’ recently faced controversy for covering Architectural Digest where she displayed her home and mesh of vintage and trendy furniture. West has proved through social media outburst, regarding Kylie Jenner and Puma, that he prefers to keep business in the family. With that said Yeezy/Kardashian fans everywhere may or may not be in store for a full blown family collaboration.
While the world conspires about what Yeezy is up to this week, one can tell that his visit to IKEA was a pleasant one. West, who officially became a father of two this year, has more music, more fashion, and more surprises in the works. On the music front he recently showed his support for Lil Wayne and 2 Chaniz and their “Collegrove” collaboration.
