Netflix has made many efforts to be the head honcho of streaming services. First they started with their original programming series like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Then they paired with Marvel to bring us a number of live-action series like DaredevilJessica JonesLuke Cage and Iron Fist. This gave the streaming service a leading edge because who doesn’t love a superhero? Now, Netflix is in a bidding war for Will Smith and David Ayer‘s upcoming fantasy-drama film, Bright, which is expected to cause a stir.

Bright follows the story of magical creatures co-existing with humans, and the battle between the creatures and human law enforcement over fighting crime using magic. Smith is set to star as a cop who’s forced to partner with one of the creatures to find a magical wand many are willing to kill to find.

This may be Netflix’s biggest deal to date. THR reports the streaming service is offering a $80-100 million budget and need a production commitment. One studio offered $55 million and it was rejected, leaving Netflix with the best offer. But the deal is far from done yet.
