According to a TMZ report, shamed former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle was assaulted in the rec yard of Englewood prison in Colorado towards the end of January. His assailant? A fellow inmate that had “major” issues with child molesters, 60-year-old Steven Nigg.
Prison documents say Fogle was jumped by Nigg, and indicate that it was “not much of a fight.” Fogle was pinned down by Niggs and beaten several times in the face, leaving him with a bloody nose, a swollen face and a significantly scratched neck. Niggs, who walked away with merely a small cut on his face, was placed in solitary confinement as punishment.
TMZ reportedly spoke to Nigg’s family, who told them that the elderly inmate isn’t happy that child sex predators are allowed to be imprisoned in low security facilities. Seeing Fogle likely set something off in Nigg, causing the attack.
Fogle is currently serving a 15-month sentence after he was convicted of conspiracy to receive child pornography and traveling to have sex with a minor in November.
