Brooklyn rapper Desiigner‘s popularity skyrocketed last month, when his “Panda” single became one of the most buzzed about tracks in Hip Hop, and he was spotted in a meeting at LAX with none other than Kanye West. Days later, at Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo reveal, ‘Ye broke the news that Desiigner had signed to G.O.O.D. Music, highlighted by two appearances on TLOP.
Since then, not much has been heard from Desiigner, but yesterday he debuted a new song at the SxSW festivities, titled “Pluto,” and you can catch a clip of that below. By now you know that some of the controversy surrounding “Panda” and Desiigner’s signing to G.O.O.D. Music is just how much the Brooklyn rapper sounds like Future, both sonically and vocally. Considering Kanye West, Travi$ Scott and Pusha T have each done considerable recent work with Future, awkward is the word that could best describe the atmosphere surrounding G.O.O.D. Music and Desiigner right now. Naturally, this will only add to that sentiment, as Future’s debut album was titled Pluto.
