With a catalog of countless hits and spectacular performances, Prince is a living legend. At a pop-up performance on Friday [March 18] in New York City, the pop icon revealed he’s releasing his first ever memoir.

The Minneapolis native is reportedly collaborating on the project with the Paris Review’s Dan Piepenbring and it’s scheduled to be published sometime next year by Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of publishing greats Random House.

The book includes stories from his early years and up to his 2007 Super Bowl performance. Titled The Beautiful Ones, the book shares the same title as a track from the 1984 film, Purple Rain.
