A few lucky music students had the opportunity to be a part of a private masterclass at the Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch School hosted by Pharrell Williams about two weeks ago.
Pharrell—alongside the Dean Allyson Dean and Professors Bob Power and Jason King—listened to the students’ music, gave them constructive criticism and discussed the creative process. King spoke on the school’s mission to shape creative entrepreneurs and thought Pharrell working directly with the students helps that mission:
The idea behind the masterclass was to have Pharrell work directly with our students and to give them ideas about how to shape the music they’re making. It’s our mission to train students as creative entrepreneurs, and few artists have married the art and business of recorded music as successfully as Pharrell.
