Zayn Malik‘s solo debut album, Mind of Mine, officially dropped this past Friday (March 25), and he’s expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 when the numbers are officially released next week. It will be quite the full circle triumph, considering this time last year he’d just announced his departure from mega-successful boy band One Direction, and there were questions about how viable his solo career would be.
Malik proved the validity of the hype surrounding his solo venture when his first-ever solo single, “PillowTalk,” became just the 25th song in the Billboard Hot 100’s history to debut at #1, and his follow-up, “It’s You,” is slowly climbing the ranks of the same chart.
