On Monday afternoon, singer Kehlani found herself in the middle of a social media firestorm after her ex-boyfriend, OVO Sound’s PARTYNEXTDOOR shared a photo on his Instagram of the two in bed. This wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows if it were not for the fact that Kehlani was in a high profile relationship with NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving, even writing a heartfelt post directed at Irving earlier in the year.
The backlash was swift, with many pegging Kehlani as public enemy number 1 in the entire situation. The singer deleted her social media accounts within minutes of the news being public, only to return to Instagram hours later with hospital bed photos, sharing that she attempted suicide due to the backlash.
Much of the negative feedback online turned into to sympathy after her revelation but there were still some who were having none of it, insinuating that the suicide attempt might have been a ploy.
