OUTKAST RELEASES “SURPRISE” EP
A post featured on the Mixologi website got Outkast fans all riled up on the notorious April 1 holiday, claiming the Atlanta Hip Hop duo put out a new EP immediately available for download. People flocked to the site in anticipation of getting their hands on new material by Big Boi and Andre 3000, but sadly, the joke was on them.
GWEN STEFANI ANNOUNCES SHE’S PREGNANT WITH BABY GIRL
To poke fun at the tabloid rumors former No Doubt singer is having a baby with country crooner Blake Sheldon, Gwen Stefani took to Twitter to post a photo of a sonogram, which she captioned: “It’s A Girl.” Stefani, of course, is NOT having a baby and presumably got a kick out of fooling her fans.
SAM SMITH TWEETS HE’S “STRAIGHT”
Unapologetically gay British singer Sam Smith shocked his Twitter followers when he posted a simple sentence: “Guys I have some news…I’m straight.” Naturally, Smith is still gay and this, in fact, was a hoax.
JUSTIN BIEBER HAS CANCER
In perhaps one of the most distasteful pranks of the day, Entertainment Tonight decided to announce to the world the beloved Justin Bieber had just been diagnosed with cancer and in support of the Biebs, fans were shaving their heads. Considering the joke wasn’t exactly funny, the Tweet has since been deleted.
MARK ZUCKERBERG LAUNCHES FASHION LINE
By now, Mark Zuckerberg‘s unofficial work uniform is immediately recognizable. The Facebook CEO is always photographed wearing the same thing: a simple grey t-shirt and blue jeans. On Friday [April 1], retailer H&M announced “Mark Zuckerberg x H&M,” a line of the tech executive’s minimalist signature look.
The clothing company went so far as to create a website for the line, offering the “collection pack,” which consists of “seven basic grey t-shirts” and “one pair of basic jeans.”
The company later Tweeted a photo clearing up the rumor.
