Footage of a Chicagoan being shot while recording himself in front of a corner store, hit the internet earlier this week. Due to it’s proximity to April Fool’s Day the validity of the footage was initially called into question. Chicago Police officials have finally released information saying this was no hoax.

The clip shows the man taking a selfie in front of a corner store joking it’s “somewhere to duck and hide for cover.” Moments later shots ring and the man and phone falls to the floor. The shooter then appears above the phone momentarily, gun in hand and lets off several more shots in view.

The Chicago Tribune has reported that the man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, suffering shots to the face and groin, and in critical condition. Peter Nickeas of the Tribune has since reported “Police are privately more confident (a lot more) in the video’s authenticity than the CPD news affairs statement lets on,” via Twitter.  CBS News has received an official from Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmo saying, “We are confident [this] isn’t a hoax.”

The video is above for viewing, but be warned it is extremely graphic.
