Is Meek Mill Dropping a Remix of Drake’s “Summer Sixteen”?

Every time it seems that the “beef” between Drake and Meek Mill–which ignited this past July and involved Twitter rants, diss tracks and radio DJs leaking alleged reference tracks–has died down, a new development occurs indicating that it isn’t as dormant as most people think.

Earlier this year, after a few months of silence, Drake dropped “Summer Sixteen,” which was billed as the first teaser for his Views From The 6 album and came complete with a few stray shots sent at both Meek Mill and Tory Lanez. Meek shot back just hours later on “War Paint,” the standout track from his second 4/4 EP.

Since then, things have been dormant once again, but this Instagram clip, posted by social media gossip highway DJ Akademiks, suggests that will soon change. It appears that Meek Mill has recorded his own version of Drake’s “Summer Sixteen,” which could find its way on his still forthcoming Dreamchasers 4 mixtape, which doesn’t have a release date as of yet.

Currently, Meek is serving a 3-month house arrest bid, the result of the probation violation he was convicted of this past December. The judge ruled that Meek was not allowed to release music during during the house arrest period, meaning it’ll be at least a couple months until we hear the full version of the alleged remix, if it is in fact real. Meek’s legal team is currently appealing the judge’s decision, with hopes that the Philly emcee will be able to put out music before June, when his case is scheduled to be re-evaluated.
