Grammy award-winning entertainer Kelly Rowland is adding a new make up line to her list of achievements. She recently sat down with Essence and mentioned she’s going into business with her make up artist Sheika Daley to create a range of make up products for every gorgeous shade, with special attention given to darker skin tones.
The 35-year-old mother comments: “We’re starting off with lashes and then we’re going to have it grow for all women, but definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know.”
Kelly wants the line to cater to a wide range of complexions and feels as though model and businesswoman Iman has paved the way for other women of color to create their own beauty products, so that every ethnicity feels included and beautiful. She enthuses: “I think Iman has done a beautiful makeup line and I want to do it too!”
The former Destiny’s Child member has been very vocal about wanting more dark-skinned role models for young girls and her insecurities about her complexion growing up. Hopefully this new venture will help more chocolate ladies to realise that Black is beautiful and give them that added boost of confidence. There isn’t currently any information regarding a release date or the names of retailers set to pick up her make up line, but stay tuned.
