As recently as two years ago, this isn’t a highlight that would make anyone’s headline. However, considering Kobe Bryant‘s deteriorating health and physicality–he was recently spotted mummified on the Lakers bench towards the end of a game–it’s pretty cool to see the Mamba pull off one of these in his final days as a pro.
Yesterday, Kobe and the Lakers faced off against the Boston Celtics, who have routinely mired Kobe throughout his career, and #24 stole the ball and immediately headed up the court with nary a defender in his path. If you thought he was going to be safe and finish off the break with a routine finger roll, you don’t really know Kobe Bryant.
When he was asked after the game whether his throwback slam was an indication that he could be back next season, Kobe replied, “not a chance.”
Just 6 games to go, Mamba.
