The free stream gives Twitter live video content the San Francisco-based company hopes will draw in new users, while the NFL gets an outlet that enables it to put its content in front of young viewers bypassing cable or satellite TV subscriptions.

“Twitter is where live events unfold and is the right partner for the NFL as we take the latest step in serving fans around the world live NFL football,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “There is a massive amount of NFL-related conversation happening on Twitter during our games and tapping into that audience, in addition to our viewers on broadcast and cable, will ensure Thursday Night Football is seen on an unprecedented number of platforms this season. This agreement also provides additional reach for those brands advertising with our broadcast partners.”

Although details of the deal were not disclosed, what is known is Twitter will stream the 10 Thursday games broadcast on CBS, NBC and televised by the NFL Network on cable. In addition, the NFL states that users will also enjoy access to in-game highlights from TNF and pre-game Periscope broadcasts with players and teams.

“This is about transforming the fan experience with football. People watch NFL games with Twitter today,” Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said in a statement. “Now they’ll be able to watch right on Twitter Thursday nights.”
