For much of the last couple weeks of March, the only sports talk dominating the headlines was the drama that unfolded between Lakers teammates D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young, who were involved in the strangest scandal the NBA has seen in years. We’re sure you’ve heard by now, but in case you haven’t, D’Angelo Russell recorded Nick Young admitting to cheating on his fiancee, Iggy Azalea, and the recording somehow made its way to the internet. Russell claims he has no idea how that happened, but it’s blown up in both of their faces. ESPN reported soon after that Russell was getting alienated in the locker room and at team events, and Nick Young has been deactivated for the remainder of the regular season. There’s also a great possibility that Nick Young finds himself on the trading block this off-season, or worse, out of a job.
However, if there’s a silver lining where Young is concerned, it’s that his fiancee appears to be sticking by his side through it all, and publicly defending their relationship. Shortly after Russell’s recording went viral, Azalea sarcastically tweeted that she “loved” the “film,” and did nothing to suggest that she was separating from Young.
More recently–as in a few hours ago–Azalea popped a squat in Ellen Degeneres’ hot seat on Ellen, and revealed that if there’s any drama still surrounding the situation, it only exists on social media. She and Nick Young are good, and pushing forward with their lives together.
