Yasiel Puig is really in another league. Though he was hampered by injuries during the Dodgers disappointing NLDS campaign, Yasiel Puig is back with a vengeance in 2016 and is doing Puig-like things just a week into the season. During yesterday’s game against the Diamondbacks, which LA lost by a score of 4-2, Puig slid way too far past the second base bag on a play that should’ve found him easily sliding in safe.

Rather than concede the base-running error and make an out, Puig decided to pull off an interesting fake-out D’backs second baseman Jean Segura, pump-faking the base-tag with one hand, and executing it with the other, completely throwing off Segura. You know who wasn’t thrown off? The infield umpire, who intently watched as Puig executed his janky slide, and accurately called him safe after the pump fake maneuver. Puig was very satisfied with this call, and gave the ump a glowing endorsement as he held onto the bag for dear life. It’s only April, what a time.
