The sold-out show, which was streamed live on Tidal, also featured opening performances from several African artists and was preceded by the presentation of an exquisite art gallery curated in part by Ms. Hill on the previous day. Before Lauryn made her way to the stage, the crowd enjoyed sets from Machel Montano, Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley, Stonebwoy, Mr. Eazi, EL, Wondaboy, JoJo Abot, and Paul Bearbrun.

Just after 1am, Lauryn made her grand entrance with help from a host of talented dancers outfitted in traditional African attire and tribal body paint for a run down of her classic songs remixed to the tune of Afro-Caribbean rhythms.  Her performance also included a rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” and an appearance by her now 18-year-old son Zion. In honor of the Diaspora Calling! Music Festival, here’s a look back at eight of Lauryn Hill’s most memorable live performances.
