Set to take place before the second weekend of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, a host of indie performers, DJs, artists, and a few food trucks will come together in true Coachella fashion as they celebrate the first ever “Berniechella Block Party” in Old Town Coachella, California.

“It’s a party of people who are in support of a particular candidate,” says event organizer Tizoc DeAztlan.

With a lineup that includes Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros frontman Alex Ebert and Ozomatli, as well as DJ sets from Shepard Fairey and Zoe Kravitz, the concert is a free event open to the public, expected to double as a rally for Bernie Sanders with an estimated attendance of over 3,000. Concert organizers have, reportedly, been in contact with the Sanders campaign hoping to get The Bern to make an appearance.

This event comes as no surprise as Sanders’s popularity has been proven among musical acts time and time again, with the likes of Run the Jewels, Vampire Weekend, and R.E.M. expressing their support for the anti-establishment candidate.

California’s primary will arrive on June 7 and Sanders showing up would be a great start to a serious set of campaigning in The Golden State, parallel to the efforts displayed in New York.
