We’re less than 7 months from the general elections, shortly after which someone not named Barack Obama will be the President of the United States of America for the first time in 8 years. Who that person will be is still up in the air, but of the four viable candidates, we’ve seen the Democratic hopefuls, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, make the hardest push to get involved in Hip Hop and inner-city culture, and secure the minority, millennial vote. From Sanders speaking to 18,000 people outside in the South Bronx, to Hillary engaging in a heated game of dominoes last week in East Harlem, every week it seems that Sanders or Clinton makes a signature effort to make sure they’re reaching the Hip Hop youth.

This week, Hillary Clinton’s efforts find her in the hot seat on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, where she sat down for an in-depth interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy. Aside from her quest for the minority vote, Hillary is undoubtedly making a last minute push to reach as many New York ears as possible, considering tomorrow is the imperative New York primary, which could ultimately be the deciding factor of whose name appears on November’s Democratic ticket.

Though the interview just took place a short while ago–there’s no video or audio of their chat yet–via Twitter, we can see that Hillary dipped into her bag of colloquial trends and pulled out a Beyonce reference, telling TBC that she, like Queen Bey, keeps hot sauce in her bag. If you remember, Beyonce infamously sang, “I keep hot sauce in my bag, swag,” on “Formation,” the new single she dropped in February and performed at the Super Bowl.
