FADER enlists Erykah Badu and Metro Boomin for new cover.
Erykah Badu joins Metro Boomin on FADER’s latest producer issue. Boomin is FADER’s other cover star of their FADER 103 issue and the queen joins him as the second pictured on an all white bed with pretty big hair and lots of hand and arm jewelry, classic Badu. The story chronologizes Badu’s life and career as she approaches her 45th birthday. Veering into her take on social media, the cover also discusses her perspective on black struggles in the 21st century.
“We can organize like a motherfucker when police beat us up,” she says. “But can we organize to stop black-on-black crime, or poor-on-poor crime? Because, you know, poor is the new black. You don’t have to be black now.”
