Frank Ocean hasn’t been heard from much musically since the release of his debut album, channel ORANGE, but shortly after the shocking and disheartening news that music legend and pop icon Prince passed away at his home earlier today, the singer took to his Tumblr to reflect on Prince’s influence on him, and the regretful feeling he has about not ever meeting or seeing Prince live.
Ocean also discussed his own sexuality, which he rarely does, in explaining that studying Prince helped Ocean feel ‘more comfortable with how he identified sexually simply by Prince’s display of freedom from and irreverence for obviously archaic ideas like gender conformity.'”
Naturally, an outpouring of support and tributes will be pouring in from superstar artists and celebrities, doubling as fans, for much of the foreseeable future. Kudos to Frank for the heartfelt and endearing message.
